Open Call 2026-27

The Korean Cultural Centre Australia (KCCAU) is pleased to announce an open call for the 202627 exhibition program. 

This exhibition program aims to support the artistic practices of local arts professionals and to promote cultural exchange and collaboration between Australia and Korea though visual arts. Selected projects will be exhibited at the KCCAU from December of 2026 through February of 2027. We welcome applications from all members of the visual arts community.

 

Exhibition Categories

- Theme

Open theme


- Medium

Painting, sculpture, installation, video, media art, craft, and other visual arts forms.


- Requirements

Proposed works must be suitable for installation within the exhibition space at KCC Australia.

 

Eligibility

Applications are open to artists, curators, collectives, and institutions.


A. Artist

Open to artists of all nationalities and ages.

*Individual artist applicants may be invited to participate in a group exhibition with other selected artists.


B. Curator

Applicants must submit an exhibition proposal including two or more artists.


C. Collectives or Institutions

Applicants must submit an exhibition proposal including two or more artists.

 

Selection Process and Criteria

- Review Process

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of visual arts professionals based in Australia.


- Criteria

A. Artistic quality of the proposed works

B. Relevance to the mission and exhibition program of KCC Australia

*including projects related to Korea or those promoting cultural exchange between Korea and Australia (projects are not required to have a Korean theme or focus)

C. Additional consideration may be given to applicants who demonstrate the potential to collaborate with local institutions

 

Exhibition Period and Venue

- Exhibition Period

December 2026 – February 2027

*Approximately two months. The final schedule may change depending on circumstances and will be confirmed after selection.

Korean Cultural Centre Australia (Exhibition Space 1, 2)

255 Elizabeth St, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia

*Please refer to the attached floor plan of the exhibition space.

 

Support

- Grant

Selected individual artist: AUD 1,500

Selected group participants(two or more): AUD 3,000 – 5,000


- Support Provided by KCC Australia

A. Exhibition space

B. Exhibition promotion and press release

C. Opening reception and events

D. Installation and de-installation support staff

*The grant covers exhibition participation fees, artwork production costs, and round-trip transportation costs for the artworks.

** Please note that selected participants are responsible for their own travel expenses.

 

Obligation

A. selected participants must attend at installation and opening reception.

 

Required Documents (All documents must be submitted in English.)


- Application Form (template attached)

- Portfolio (PDF, maximum 20 pages)

- Images of artworks (JPEG files, or video links for video works)

*For video, sound, or performance, please include still images and video links within the portfolio.

**All required documents, including images and video links, must be submitted as a single compressed file.

***Individual feedback on submissions will not be provided.

****Submitted materials will not be returned.

*Please select only one category when applying: artist, curator, collective, or institution

**Incomplete applications or applications submitted after the deadline may not be considered.

 

Application Timeline

26 June 2026 (Fri) – 3 August 2026 (Mon)

*Applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM (AEST) on Monday, 3 August 2026.

**Only successful applicants will be notified individually in August.
