The Korean Cultural Centre Australia (KCCAU) is pleased to announce an open call for the 2026–27 exhibition program. 

This exhibition program aims to support the artistic practices of arts professionals and to promote cultural exchange and collaboration between Australia and Korea through visual arts. Selected projects will be exhibited at the KCCAU from December of 2026 through February of 2027. We welcome applications from all members of the visual arts community.

Exhibition Categories

- Theme

Open theme

- Medium

Painting, sculpture, installation, video, media art, craft, and other visual arts forms.

- Requirements

Proposed works must be suitable for installation within the exhibition space at KCC Australia.

Eligibility

Applications are open to artists, curators, collectives, and institutions.

A. Artist

Open to artists of all nationalities and ages.

*Individual artist applicants may be invited to participate in a group exhibition with other selected artists.

B. Curator

Applicants must submit an exhibition proposal including two or more artists.

C. Collectives or Institutions

Applicants must submit an exhibition proposal including two or more artists.

Selection Process and Criteria

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of visual arts professionals based in Australia.

A. Artistic quality of the proposed works

B. Additional consideration may be given to proposals that demonstrate relevance to the mission and exhibition program of KCC Australia, particularly projects related to Korean art or those that promote cultural exchange between Korea and Australia.

C. Additional consideration may be given to proposals that demonstrate the potential to collaborate with local institutions

Support

- Grant

Selected individual artist: AUD 1,500

Selected group participants(two or more): AUD 3,000 – 5,000

*The grant covers exhibition participation fees, artwork production costs, and round-trip transportation costs for the artworks.

** Please note that selected participants are responsible for their own travel expenses.

Obligation

A. Selected participants must attend the installation and opening reception.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) 

Before submitting your application, please ensure you have carefully reviewed the relevant guidelines (file attached).

1. Can I submit more than six artworks?

Yes. You may submit more than six artworks if you wish. Please add additional tables to the Artwork Information section of the application form.

2. Do the artworks have to be related to Korea or Australia?

No. The exhibition theme is open, and we welcome creative works across all genres and themes.

However, additional consideration may be given to proposals that align with the mission and exhibition program of the Korean Cultural Centre Australia (KCCAU), particularly projects related to Korean art or those that promote cultural exchange between Korea and Australia.

3. Can I apply in more than one category?

No. Please select only one category when submitting your application.

4. Do I have to live in Australia to apply?

No. There are no restrictions on nationality or place of residence. Applicants from outside Australia are also welcome to apply.

However, selected participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses, as well as arranging the round-trip transportation of their artworks. The grant is intended to contribute towards artwork production and transportation costs.

5. Can I submit works that have been exhibited previously?

Yes. Previously exhibited works are eligible, provided they are suitable for the exhibition space and align with the objectives of the program.

6. Can I submit works that are still in progress?

Yes. Works in progress may be submitted, provided the proposal clearly demonstrates the intended outcome and the work can be completed before the exhibition period.

7. What if my portfolio exceeds 20 pages?

Please keep your portfolio to a maximum of 20 pages. Applications that significantly exceed the page limit may not be considered.

8. When will applicants be notified?

Only successful applicants will be notified individually during August 2026. Due to the high volume of applications, individual feedback on submissions will not be provided.
