The Korean Cultural Centre Australia (Director: Sunmin Yoon,"the Centre") is marking its 15th anniversary by launching a redesigned official website and presenting a range of cultural programs across Australia. Since its opening in 2011, commemorating 50 years of Korea–Australia diplomatic relations, the Centre has promoted Korean culture through exhibitions, performances, film festivals, K-pop, Korean cuisine, literature events, and language courses. This year, the Centre is focusing on collaborative projects to reach audiences beyond Sydney, including: ●Author Go-eun Yoon events with the State Library of Victoria (February, Melbourne & Sydney) ●K-pop cover dance and vocal performances linked to the Hallyu exhibition at the National Museum of Australia (March, Canberra) ●Korean traditional fermented sauce demonstration with the Korean Food Promotion Institute (May, Sydney) ●Moon Jar exhibition in collaboration with a local gallery (June, Sydney)
The Centre will also showcase Korean literature at the Sydney and Auckland Writers’ Festivals and host upcoming events such as the 17th Australian Korean Film Festival (August), a K-pop Cover Dance Festival (September), a “Water”-themed exhibition at the Australian National Maritime Museum (September), Korean Language Immersion Day at UNSW (September), and a children’s puppet show at the Sydney Opera House (October). The new website improves usability and accessibility, serving as a hub for promoting Korean culture across Australia. It emphasises stable access, clear messaging, and comprehensive program information. Director Sunmin Yoon commented, “We thank everyone who has supported the Centre over the past 15 years. We will continue to expand our role as a cultural exchange platform connecting Korea and Australia.” Visit the Centre’s new website: https://au.korean-culture.org. |
