The Korean Cultural Centre Australia (Director Sunmin Yoon, “The Centre”), in collaboration with the National Museum of Australia, successfully held the “Aussie K-poppers United Concert” on March 21.
The concert was in connection with the special exhibition “Hallyu! The Korean Wave”, aiming to bring the evolution and global spread of Korean pop culture to life through live performances. The event drew enthusiastic responses from both family visitors and local K-pop fans, offering a meaningful opportunity to experience Korean popular culture firsthand.
Talented K-pop cover dance teams and vocalists from major Australian cities—including Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth—delivered dynamic performances over approximately two hours. Dance teams showcased high-energy choreography, while vocalists captivated the audience with their unique interpretations of popular K-pop songs.
The program featured a diverse repertoire spanning generations—from the iconic 1990s hit “Candy” to the globally recent track “Like JENNIE”—allowing audiences to naturally engage with the history and evolution of Hallyu. Audience members responded with great enthusiasm throughout the concert, creating a festive atmosphere that continued even after the event with photo sessions and interactions with performers.
Director Sunmin Yoon remarked, “It was a truly meaningful occasion where people from diverse regions and generations came together through a shared passion for K-pop,” adding that the Centre will continue to expand cultural exchange opportunities across Australia through K-pop and Korean culture.
