The Korean Cultural Centre Australia (Director Sun-min Yoon, hereafter “the Centre”) successfully concluded a special program featuring acclaimed K-pop choreographer Kinki, held in conjunction with the Hallyu exhibition at the National Museum of Australia. The event attracted around 200 local participants and visitors. The program comprised a dance masterclass and an artist talk, both offered free of charge to enhance public understanding of K-pop and its creative process. In the masterclass, participants learned choreography from STAYC’s “Teddy Bear,” gaining insight into both movement and artistic intent behind K-pop performance design. In a follow-up talk moderated by Amanda Whitley, founder and editor-in-chief of HerCanberra, Kinki shared insights into his creative process, international collaborations, and career as a global choreographer. An engaged Q&A session followed, reflecting strong audience interest. Participants expressed high satisfaction, noting the accessibility of the instruction and the opportunity to gain behind-the-scenes perspectives on K-pop production. A spokesperson for the Centre said the program “offered a meaningful window into K-pop creativity and strengthened connections with local audiences,” adding that the Centre will continue to expand cultural exchange initiatives through diverse programming.
